About Eddie

Eddie Ortega was born and bred in Orlando, Florida. He is the middle child of 5 brothers and sisters and proud son of Ediberto Sr. and Elsie; hard-working immigrants from the Dominican Republic who taught him the significance of perseverance and unconditional love. 

Eddie graduated with his BM in Music Theatre from Florida State University in 2019. He has performed on stage in many productions across the U.S. most recently portraying Jesus in Godspell (Garden Theatre) in the Spring of 2021. In 2018, he won the BroadwayWorld South Carolina Award for best actor in a musical for his portrayal of Usnavi in In the Heights (Glow Lyric Theatre). Along with his stage work, Eddie has sailed across the world performing with Oceania Cruises, done commercial work, and played a featured role in a feature film on Amazon Prime.

A self-proclaimed beast on the basketball court, Eddie enjoys making music, studying astrology, debating sports and playing with all the little ones in his family. He is a determined performer who values hard work over talent and is eternally grateful for all the people who have helped him along the way. Eddie is currently living in New York City.
